intermittent webmail issues
Posted (July 7th, 2008 at 11:19 am PST) by danwyWe’re having some temporary issues with some of our webmail machines. We believe it has to do with a recent plugin upgrade. Our admin team is currently investigating this issue and hope to have it back to normal shortly. We’ll update this post when we believe the problem is resolved. We’re sorry for any inconvenience this causes you.
Update: 12:15pm - This should be resolved now. The problem wasn’t with a plugin upgrade, but with our Squirrelmail database. Our admins fixed this up a short while ago and we’ve tested several customer accounts to insure that it is working again. If you continue to have problems with webmail, please contact support.

Seriously? Guys, I’ve been patient. This is the 4th issue in the past 10 days with my mail. Come on…

Let’s get it handled guys, I got some big things I need to do with my email.
Please get this resolved ASAP - like right now, if possible. The downtime is really really interfering with correspondence on our end. I’ve been with you for a long time, I am not happy at the moment. In the future, if there is any server-side maintenance expected, please send out an email heads-up so we know to be on alert for any outages.

I always read “Outages” in the category of this blog as “Outrages” and then my eye just jumps over to the comments. Then I see that a thread has “Outrages 5″ and I know that five people are OUTRAGED! OUTRAGED, I SAY! at the current downtime.

Seriously, my bill is up today and I am finally ready to leave this company. Can someone recommend a decent hosting service because I have had it!!!! Seven years I’ve been with this company and I am a complete fool. If anyone can recommend a solid service, please pass it around. Dreamhost sucks!

In the middle of several important business deals and now I’m down. Help!! Please get me up and running asap. Business is hard enough right now without this getting in the way and making me look unresponsive to clients!
Why don’t we use google? We don’t want ads on our webmail. We want SSL webmail. WE PAID FOR WEBMAIL with our webhosting.
Google are datamining your email. There is No Such Thing As a Free Lunch. Someone pays for it somewhere.
Yes there is free software because someone feels like giving it away. But free *services* cost ongoing money.
Google is not a charity.
Google searches through your email text to serve up ads. Google also does not guarantee that when you delete emails that they will be gone from their servers.
At least the fix was quick this time..
But it is the umpteenth time this last year that there have been these kinds of outages or much worse. Aren’t there ANY stable email providers - heck gmail would be a better choice these days.
I don’t know if all webmail users where affected… I didn’t even noticed. My clients rely heavily on webmail and I didn’t got a single call… DH sure did fix it quickly.
and now Dreamhost webmail is broken AGAIN.

Opened a support ticket this morning — DreamHost support is good though so I’m sure the are looking into it ![]()

do we have an ETA on when this might be fixed? Even rough ETAs are fine at the moment. I need to give my user base something to work from.
