Forwarding to Gmail Delayed
Posted (July 10th, 2008 at 8:48 pm PST) by Jason CCustomers are reporting severe delays with messages that should be forwarded to Gmail and Google Apps hosted domains. It appears direct mail from our customers is coming thru just fine to Gmail addresses — but forwards are seeing delays of several hours. If this sounds familiar, it is because it happened about 8 months back. This means that we have a pretty solid idea of what is going on this time around tho.
Members of our admin team have been in touch with the Gmail team at Google and are working together on a resolution. More information on this matter will be added onto this entry as new details bubble up to the surface.
Update: This issue has been resolved.
Update: To elaborate on the resolution, the fine folks at GMail found a bug which was causing this to happen, has fixed the bug, and is setting up some monitoring to catch this bug in the future. Much thanks to the GMail team for the quick resolution!
P.S. Forwarding-only accounts where important mail is expected over the next 24 to 48 hours should add a mailbox hosted here to guarantee mail delivery for the time being. Hopefully things won’t take that long — since the matter is in Google’s hands, we don’t quite have an ETA — but it’s always best to plan for the worst case scenario. If you need assistance with doing this, please contact the support department.

NOOOOOOO! Not this again! This really suck’d last time.
Slashdot is reporting on broken forwarding to Gmail.
Also, does using Google Apps email fix this problem? I’m beginning to think I need to set that up, if I can avoid having this happen in the future.
Gmail is having some SMTP issues right now. That is likely the cause. I use Google Apps in my day job, and we had problems with sending mail, and not having it delivered until like 12 hours later.
AAAAAAAHHH PORCO DIO!!!!!!!!
TA TUDO FUDIDO NESSA PORRA D SERVIDOR
QUE RAIVA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have TONS of gmail forwards, but it’s mostly webservice accounts. It is annoying to have to wait 48 hours for a password reset email, but not life or death, I suppose.
I know this post is not related to this upgrade. I can’t seem to access the Webpanel. Getting error on Firefox & Safari. What’s going on?
ARGH!!!!
It’s happening again right now (Jul 29)… at least for me…

I have a catch-all that forwards to a Gmail account, and naturally, I’m seeing some problems. If I access my mail through webmail however, I can see all the messages there in “real-time.” Keep that in mind those who are having email troubles. Hope this gets fixed soon.
