Thank you. I just upgrade my blog by One-Click Installs.
So fast.

I just thought I would post in case anyone stumbles upon this when they can’t get their blog to work after this upgrade. Once I upgraded it threw me some table errors and when I visited my site it showed it as “My Blog”, the normal WP default install. The problem was that the upgrade script had, for whatever reason, changed my table prefix for MySQL. I had to go into phpmyadmin, find the old table prefix, and then put it into wp-config.php . That solved my problem.

Sites on 67.205.3.119 are intermittently down. They just went down 5 minutes ago, so you can see the issue now. Here are two examples:

cambridgereporter.ca
http://www.riverofglorychurchak.org

Host headers that point to 67.205.3.119 are coming an going a few times a day.

If I go into my control panel and update one of my domains that are on that IP it will fix all the domains on the server!!

It seems like that action is writing a correct apache config file.

You can see the problem by browsing to the IP address:

http://67.205.3.119

When browsing to a dreamhost IP you always get this message:
http://67.205.3.118/

Please fix as it has been going on for about a week!

Yikes. I’ll probably wait for just a while to see if that is indeed an issue to be worked out.

In regards to the table errors you did I assume first visit your blog after the upgrade at:

http://www.whatever-your-blogpage-domain-is.stuff/wp-admin/upgrade.php

And updated your database tables like it says in the Email you get when your update is finished?

If you just goto your Blog or Admin page otherwise you’ll see a blank Blog…

Great upgrade, no problems at all. Thanks Dreamhost!

Just upgraded 3 blogs, no issue at all.

Just in case someone from DreamHost is watching, the panel is down.

Is anyone having trouble to access the admin panel right now (15/07/2008 20:17:13 GMT)?

I know this post is not related to this upgrade but I can’t access the Webpanel. Getting error on Firefox & Safari. What’s going on?

Same as Jeevan above. Can’t access Web Panel!

Everything is down for me - panel & sites.

Admin panel is down for me as well.

Everything seems to be alright now :)

Can someone post the steps to upgrading? I’m a complete novice at this stuff. I tried to upgrade from the main panel. Looks like I need to delete some files before I do the upgrade?

Thanks!

I have pain-in-ass kind of problem… premalinks doesn’t work at all… it says that it cant access it because there’s nothing… :S :S

For KJ, the official wordpress information on upgrading is at the link here…

http://codex.wordpress.org/Upgrading_WordPress_Extended

But it depends on what you are trying to do…

If you have the choice to upgrade in your one-click installers under the advanced tab there shouldn’t be anything to delete or change other than clicking on the link in the Email you should get when the upgrade is done…

TeraS

And for Kristjan, have a look at this Wordpress page:

http://codex.wordpress.org/Using_Permalinks

When I try to do the one-click install, it wants me to use an empty directory. So I assume that means I still have to back-up all my files. The one-click install just saves me from manually uploading the new WordPress files, right?

KJ…

I think you are going into the wrong part of the one-click…

You should be clicking the last choice on that page marked:

> Upgrade or remove previously installed software - Advanced mode

Under that you will see you Wordpress install marked and several choices on the right side of the screen…

One of those is marked something like: Upgrade to 2.6!

That’s what you need to click on…

Anything else on that page will try to install a completely new copy of the software and that’s why it wants a blank directory to install in…

TeraS

Smooth upgrade here. Thanks!

I only have two options on my control panel:

1) Install new website software - easy mode

2) Install new website software - advanced moe

Am I missing something?

Thanks.

I think you are KJ…

The upgrade choice should be below that second choice…

Out of curiosity, have you scrolled down on the page?

I have to on my computer to see my upgrade choice…

TeraS

Yep, I scrolled down.

I guess the most obvious explanation is that I didn’t do the initial install with the one-click option (although I thought I did).

That would make the most sense really…

So in that case, you should be able to upgrade your Wordpress by using the link in your dashboard in 2.5.1…

Run the upgrader and then use the upgrade link that I mentioned above and you should be kk…

Hope this helped somehow…

TeraS

Hello all and thanks in advance for the help :)

I too am a novice and am having a hard time upgrading to 2.6. Much like kj above, In my Admin control panel I only have two options , however advanced mode is not one of them!

1) Install new website software - easy mode

2) Modify / Remove previously installed software (easy)

Am I too missing something? Do I have to remove wordpress and reinstall using the advanced mode? I’m going to give that a try while waiting for any responses.

Thanks.

I think I figured it out.. I didn’t have an active domain because it was redirecting to my wordpress blog. It seems as though I have the advanced options now that I fixed this.

Alright so I installed 2.6 under the advanced mode and received the email about how to set everything up.

Step 1. Create an admin user at http://www.domainnamehere.com/wp-admin/install.php

… but it’s an invalid webpage?

Help :(

I know the file is there, I can see it with my ftp client…

Bleh told you I was a newb, I had to remove the http://www.

Sorry for wasting 30 seconds you’ll NEVER get back!

*huggles*

It’s all kk Kerstan…

Hope it’s all good now for you!

TeraS

That would probably be the most likely explaination, so then you upgrade through the Dashboard in Wordpress…

TeraS

Anyone want to upgrade to 2.6.1?
