File Server Upgrades 2008-08-22
Posted (August 21st, 2008 at 11:16 pm PST) by kitchenTonight we’re going to be doing janice and gonzo again, starting with janice at about midnight pacific. We believe we have resolved the issues we had last night with the upgrades and things should go pretty smoothly. Check back here for updates as things progress!
Update: 12:09am pacific: We are getting started on janice right now.
Update: 3:09am pacific: Some additional problems were encountered with the upgrade of janice, and we are again aborting the upgrade. We will be rescheduling this upgrade for a later date. We greatly apologize for any inconvenience this has caused. We will begin the upgrade on gonzo at about 4:30am pacific and we do not anticipate the same problems we had with janice, so it should go very smoothly.
Update: 4:32am pacific: We are cancelling the upgrade for gonzo for tonight. It’s getting too late now, and east coasters will be getting up soon and wanting to check their email and whatnot. As of right now everything’s up and running fine on both of these systems, so if you’re having issues, please contact support!

Is this why my website is down?

Geez, over 3 hours of downtime for my website and subversion repositories, and the upgrade still wasn’t done and will have to be attempted a 3rd time. I really hope the 3rd time is the charm.

@Harumph: I feel your frustration and sympathize. Believe me, I hate the fact that we have to do this again as much as you do. And you can ask Sandon, I was getting really frustrated that it wasn’t working
At least with this particular window we figured out one of the primary issues we were having with the upgrade last time, so gonzo should work just fine when we do it.

Hi
I am trying to access
medusa.dreamhost.com
via FileZilla and i get this error.
Connection attempt failed with “EAI_NONAME - Neither nodename nor servname provided, or not known”.
any idea if this has something to do with this upgrade?
it was working OK a day or two before.
PS: even ftp access is still working via webftp from dreamhost.
