ns2.dreamhost.com maintenance 08/21/2008
Posted (August 21st, 2008 at 10:00 pm PST) by jordanTomorrow we will be upgrading ns2.dreamhost.com to apply some security patches. The actual downtime should not last longer then 5 minutes but during this period you may notice site slowness due to dns lookups failing at ns2.dreamhost.com. The upgrade is planned to start at 10:00PM PDT and should be finished around 11:00PM PDT.

The upgrade is starting now, this post will be updated then it has completed.

We have finished with the security upgrade of ns2.dreamhost.com . If you are experiencing problems with ns2 please contact technical support.

we still have ns1.dreamhost.com and ns3.dreamhost.com.. don’t worry
It was 24 hours to long, I knew my RSS feed was going to go off eventually for this…
for the last three days, every few hours my site cannot be accessed… for 5 mins to 1.5 hrs…
this is crap, and im pushing a deadline, thanks dreamhost.
will be leaving you within the month.

your loss, these guys do upgrades for YOU. You are insane to ask for 100% uptime for a service that you probally are paying a few dollars a month for.

So how is it going?
The only reason I found this post is because my DNS records that’s supposed to be served by DreamHost today stopped resolving (read - broken). It is 6:40PM PST 08/21/2008, and ns1.dreamhost.com, ns2 and ns3 - all return NXDOMAIN for my queries.
Very very frustrating - DreamHost, you guys really dropping the ball lately. After being your customer since 2001 I am thinking about switching to a more reliable host.
