Vidar Problems

Vidar as been experiencing some off and on reboots due to memory problems. We have recently upgraded the amount of memory in the machine and we have also addressed some user script problems that were consuming too many resources. With this we believe the machine will become more stable now, however we’re still keeping an eye on it to ensure there are no lingering problems.

Once again my websites on vidar are inaccessible. I think there’s a lingering problem…

I know that “this is not a way to contact DreamHost”. I can read. I am angry and I am frustrated and I was just commenting on their post that said “however we’re still keeping an eye on it to ensure there are no lingering problems”. There are lingering problems.

I have contacted Dreamhost many, many times over the past three days via the Dreamhost Web Panel. My latest ticket has been sitting there for over seven hours and once again, my websites are down. Back to the web panel I go.

I have had 4 domains down since late Friday night. Frustrated, angry, annoyed, etc. And yes, I’ve contacted dreamhost, and no I still have no answer. Lovely.

This was me venting…

I write a message here because I cannot reply to the email sent received from Dreamhost in response to my problem.

Since more than one week now, EVERY DAY all my sites are down for a long period of time, several hours per day, web, email, ftp services are totally down, ssh connection does not work (blocked after I enter my password). I’m on postac.

And another day goes by, and still 4 domains down. No response from dreamhost.

No chance for Dreamhots: i need to move…

My sites appear to be up alright.

We recently moved to DreamHost and are inches away from switching back due to the unbelievable amount of downtime: our site is down DAILY for extended periods of time, which is ridiculous. Even the far cheaper web hosts out there have better uptime and performance than we are seeing. If this doesn’t resolve quickly, we are moving our business elsewhere.

Unbelievable.

Paul, it’s been the same for over a year at DH. Get out now if it’s a convenient time for you to do so, because it isn’t going to get any better - quite the opposite if you care to look at the history. Personally I recommend MediaTemple - their grid-service is about $14/month after discount for 1 year subs and 15% off (just search Google for the coupon code), and is very reliable - FAR more so than DH.

My sites are up, but since Saturday I cannot publish anything new.

In general, I do not have problems with Dreamhost and I have been using them for several years now, but this problem has been unresolved for way too long.

My sites haven’t gone down -but then again the server admins love my cluster :)

My site is down as of this morning 09.02.08. Is anyone else experiencing this problem? I’m hosted on Gorgon.

Glad I moved. Was with Dreamhost for 5 great years, but it was time. Thank you for the support…

DREAMHOSTS STAFF - READ THIS NOW!

I don’t think any of my tech support tickets are getting through. A friend of mine with an account here feels the same way. We both have tickets in for the highest priority. They have gone ignored for 30+ hours, and we have not received emails about them. My ticket # is 2655988.

I have no way of contacting you, which is why I’m posting this here.

We have been down since Tuesday. How do we submit tech support tickets?

Dreamhost: Having been a customer since 1999, with multiple domains and sites hosted by you, along with a lot of other people I am frustrated and upset that you’ve put me out of business for close to 24 hours now.

I got a call from a Dreamhost tech rep who could only tell me to “clear my cache” which is NOT the problem. I was finally able to convince him that something is very very wrong with Dreamhost and all he told me was he was going to send it to his supervisor.

Your service is screwed up where you can’t enter a direct URL without it wanting to download the page as if it is a file, and server-side includes are not working.

After being a loyal customer for close to 10 years, I too will be looking at other options. Dreamhost has been having a lot of problems lately it seems. Every day I experience either intermittent email outages or website problems. A lot of people depend on our businesses to make a living and Dreamhost’s incompetence with keeping their systems running is destroying our businesses.

It also seems that most of this comes from “improvements” made by Dreamhost. Stop improving things to the point where nothing works anymore. Get your systems stable and running and keep them there. Don’t experiment on servers where live sites hosted.

…and yes, I realize that “Comments posted here may not be viewed by DreamHost staff at all. This is not a way to contact DreamHost” but I already have three service tickets in which is the official way to contact you and you are ignoring those. Or you have someone call us that doesn’t know what he is doing. This is not a way to run a premier hosting service.
