kegerator ran out of beer
Posted (September 6th, 2008 at 7:26 pm PST) by kitchenOne of our file servers “kegerator” suddenly stopped serving nfs ops and is currently causing domains hosted on it to be inaccessible. We are looking into this matter and hope to have a resolution soon. This will affect machines and DreamHostPSes on the spacey cluster, including:

We will post updates as things progress!
Update: We fixed the problem about 10 minutes ago (right about the same time this post went up) and have been keeping an eye on it since, and it looks to be ok. There was a runaway cronjob creating tons and tons of files as well as the weekly disk scrub, which, when combined, caused i/o on the file server to peg, slowing things down substantially.

Wait, this is a real server issue? I thought your kegerator just ran out if beer.
Was that name Glen’s idea?
Server coffee.dreamhost.com still does not work. It can be reached by “ping”, but not accessible via http. My website olympiavn.net on that server have error id: “bad_httpd_conf”.
coffee != beer
There seems to be a lot of problems out there. 2x support tix are ignored. Validator pulls up my sites at 404 (not the case), only able to get my DNS provider to hook 50% of the time, and I am getting the bad http com thing for no reason.
Getting worried.
Oh, and now - NO FTP! Thank god I keep a lot of different servers - I ported most of the bad stuff over asap. Dreamhost? Are you okay?
thanks

GOEFriends.com’s site still doesn’t function and it’s pointing to this particular instance. Looks like the issue is yet to be resolved afterall. Don’t buy from DreamHost, use webhosting somewhere else. They’re not fixing their issues, they’re just leaving things half cocked and unresolved.
