Control Panel Slowness

Some of you may have noticed that the control panel (https://panel.dreamhost.com/) is running slower than normal. This is true. We’re looking into this and hope to have it back to normal speed as soon as possible. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Rails 2.1.1 is coming!

It seems like just yesterday we updated to 2.0.0, and of course there’s a new Rails already! I’m starting to build packages for 2.1.1 today, and I’ll then slowly test and roll the new version out over the next week. So, once again, freeze your rails if you haven’t already.

larchmont eats dirt

The server larchmont is on the fritz this morning, tanking out on 3 occasions. The server is being failed over to new hardware, estimated downtime is one hour.

Sorry, midas users! Looks like the NIC on your machine died. I’ve been moving it to new hardware for about 30 minutes, and it should be back in like another 30 or so. Sorry for the late notice!
Update: the machine was back up as of 3pm, however it was jsut rebooted because of load issues. [...]

New Wordpress one-click security update

There’s a potentially important security issue in Wordpress versions prior to 2.6.2 that may allow malicious attackers to change (and even possibly capture!) the password for any user. Our one-click system has already been updated and we urge everyone to upgrade ASAP.

Skip, skipped into a brick wall

The MySQL server Skip is having trouble with its array, it hasn’t been able to recover after reboot. A admin is driving out to the datacenter to address the issue. Estimated time down is unknown at this time however when we have a ETA this post will be updated.

kegerator ran out of beer

One of our file servers “kegerator” suddenly stopped serving nfs ops and is currently causing domains hosted on it to be inaccessible. We are looking into this matter and hope to have a resolution soon. This will affect machines and DreamHostPSes on the spacey cluster, including:

Pound getting a new network card

Pound has been having issues recently that have required reboots due to a finiky networking card. I’m plopping a new one in there, it shouldn’t take longer than 20 minutes. The end result should be greater stability!
