Yoshi Licked

The webserver yoshi is exhibiting symptoms that hint at impending disk failure, the server is being taken offline and is being moved to new hardware. Estimated downtime is 30 minutes.

Update 8:00 PST: Yoshi is taking a bit longer to get back on it’s feet, will update when hardware migration is complete.

Update 9:40 PST Yoshi is back in business, sorry for the delay!

@dupola Spacey is down too, I think. I just hope they are able to get things back together soon.

All are websites are down, I have to finish an important review in next 4 hours time ,i want all my sites to be up in next 3 hours , else i will take legal action

all my sites are down for past 10 hours, am i going to get a valid reason , how long it takes for all my sites to be up ?

Will email service be restored soon as well? Our email is on Spacey. Will there be any issues with receiving emails that were sent during the down time? Thanks.

I’m in the process of switching hosting! This is insane, my business is only web based, cannot afford to lose daily visitors to competitors! Will pay more, but will be worth it because customer service is available by phone 24/7!

Atleast they should provide us the backup for time sake

I have sites on Spacey, still down. For anyone here who says they’re going to take their business elsewhere. Trust me, this happens everywhere - I came to DreamHost from other hosts that had chronic failures. The real difference in providers is not whether these problems happen, it’s how they handle them. I’m disappointed that DH allowed this situation to get so critical and I expect they will take actions to prevent this same thing from happening in the future. But whatever they do there will certainly be something else for which no one was prepared. I’m sorry to say, if you pay $100/month for service you’re going to get about the same reliability, just (arguably) more freedom when the systems are up. Sit this out and see what DH has to say.

I am curious about how PS users are doing - if they feel any more secure than those of us still in shared space.

To DH: The big mistake here is not keeping in constant contact with your users about what’s going on. You’re not using Twitter and this status site effectively. Keep people informed on what happened and what you’re doing and it will be much easier for everyone to cope with the service outtage.

Yeah, my business is down all day today. Email, website, etcc… not one reply to my support ticket.

i made a ticket. cant see any info about this being an issue for anyone else.

@dupola - Pepsi is on the spacey cluster. That cluster is experiencing problems, and DH is updating the status in another thread.

And stop shouting that they are cheating their customers. They aren’t. DH doesn’t guarantee uptime in the shared environment, which you would know if you bothered to read the Terms of Service.

@CST - I’ve NEVER submitted a ticket that wasn’t responded to in a timely fashion. You haven’t given them an email address to reply to that’s on the email service that’s down, have you? (If your DH email is down, and the address you give them is on you DH email, then how could you get a reply?) Have you gone into the support history on the control panel to check for a reply there?

Hmmm maybe some sort of credit to consolidate and make up for so much downtime for some of us. My site has been down literally every day this entire month! Been on fidget since 2004 then finally got fed up and asked to get moved to a “Better Server” now I am on coonan and its even worse!

shit….!! all my websites were in gotti they moved my sites to mclain and now all of them are fucking down…. im tired if this shit…why they take so long for fix it up the fucking servers….stack of lacy boys.!!!! we are losint money and visits with you…..!!!!

If this server is back up why are so many sites still down? Going on 24 hr’s for my site which is unacceptable especially with out an explanation and I would have somebody sending out emails the old fashioned way by hand if necessary. Shit happens but you shouldn’t leave everybody in the dark. Public relations goes a long way when shit goes down.

i don’t know WHAT the problem is over there that you can’t respond to my requests for over 24 hours. my site has been down and having errors up the yin yang ever since YOU GUYS DECIDED TO MOVE MY SITE TO A NEW SEVER. we can’t even connect manually to the database so someone better please call me i have put in support tickets every two hours asking at LEAST for an update!!!!!

our database has been down for 5.5 hrs. can’t connect. no response to emails or support tickets. just terrible.
