The trouble with McLean
Posted (December 17th, 2008 at 1:14 pm PST) by Jason CSome users on mclean have been reporting service issues recently. We’ve discovered that the server is currently saturating the port that it is using to communicate with the outside world. Since we can’t have that, our admin team is in the process of upgrading the server so it handles its traffic a bit better.
The current estimate from the point person on this issue is about an hour from the time of this post. We reserve the right to run over that estimate a bit — but if that happens, I’ll do my best to keep the folks suffering from this issue updated.
Update - 1:33 PM PST: Wow! The upgrade went way faster than was expected and I’ve already been given the all-clear. If you’re on mclean and continue to see issues — other than a few slowdowns due to a higher than average load while the server recovers — please contact support and we’ll do our best to work with you.

We have been experiencing data connectivity problems with our MYSQL database and it is on GRENDEL.
anyone else having problems. support will not respond to our tickets which were submitted 3hrs ago. we’ve lost 15k in sales and my client is pissed.
apache seems to be down on mclean now…
MCCLEAN is DOWN AGAIN TODAY! WTF????
Scott Rolfson… same here. lost a lot of money with this issue.
40 hours of downtime and now all my sites take forever to load and some of them are not even loading at all. Sent many email to support and didn’t get any answer. I feel completely ignored.
It’s been more than 2 days like this (almost 3 now) and it doesn’t seem to get any better. I’m sick of it. I’ve already moved some of my sites to another hosting company and will keep moving some. If the problem hasn’t been fixed by the time I’ve moved all my sites, I’ll simply close my account with Dreamhost.
“please contact support and we’ll do our best to work with you”
Yeah, right…
Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
48 hours and counting. No reply from support. Wooo
it would be nice to have some sort of update… besides the generic email sent waaaaaay too late yesterday.
this is the third day now and i can barely get anything done. i’m okay with stuff breaking (it happens) but the silence from dreamhost on this is not cool.
Its still down!!! What a hell is going on? Could anyone tell me if the name server settings has changed from the ns1.dreamhost.com?
I have a domain which has been pointing to this and it was working fine for months, now since this McLean switch the domain doesn’t work.
PLEASE HELP!!!!!
My sites DOWN too! Maybe this is reason: go to ‘web panel’ => ’status’ => ‘disk usage’
I mean one username 2 times, old and new (unlimited). If i click old username (disk limit).
Then answer is here:
Oops! Couldn’t modify this user: UserService “3391284″ not owned by you!. Please contact Tech Support.
I’ve been having the same problems. Up and down for the past week. No response to emails (except a blanket apology a few days ago).
The worst part is, they just moved me to McLean. I’ve been on a perfectly good server for the past 2-3 years. No major problems. Now they move me to this lousy buggy server.
Same here - been a client for 1.5 years. Never had a problem. Now thbis week is a nightmare and we losing visitors and revenue. I send in a help ticket every 12 hours and getting NO RESPONSE. This is crazy. I need to find someone who can host my sites ASAP.
Even a generic “we’re doing everything we can” response would be better than nothing at all.
Your unlimited SHIT not works!!!!
What is most frustrating is there are no updates! Just silence. I send a help ticket every 18 hours and nothing back. Just tell us, do we need to do anything with our DNS names? Is this still being workied on…or what?
Five days of sites going up and down. Still no response to emails. Is this going to get fixed? Are you still working on it? Why won’t you answer the emails? Pleas give us an update!
This is ridiculous! My site was down for 36 hours, and for the last two days has been running at snail speed with 3-minute page load times and timeouts. What the heck is going on….!!!!! I’ve sent support tickets only to hear nothing in response. I have lost countless advertisers on my blog as well as advertising revenue, and now this is affecting the holiday shopping funds that i was going to spend on my kids this christmas. Dreamhost, you have sucked in 2008…. never had a problem with you before, and now I think I will move my sites to other more reliable hosting services. Thanks for putting the nail in your own coffin.
All my sites loaded very slowly, again!
thnks
Still having problems and no answer to numerous emails. This has been going on for a week now.
Next year 2009 i will find a new host service!

OMG….
