Legs server being moved to new hardware.

Posted (December 19th, 2008 at 2:51 pm PST) by mir

In light of the recent issues with this server the admin team has decided it would be best to rebuild it on new hardware. There was a problem with the machine (but not the drives) so it either had ram or bad raid controller and rather than have our customers suffer while we pin it down we’re getting everyone onto a working server. This should be completed within the next hour.

Update: Legs back up!
My apologies for the slow update but it appears that the new improved legs has been up for the last 45 minutes now and should provide greatly improved stability!

Thanks for the info. The only issues I’d been having were dropouts during FTP transfer to my website files…

It is down again now.

No it’s not! : http://www.lowerdayhouse.com

Was my service impacted? How d I know? My PDA is not working now for incoming email, says does not recognize server. On my laptop my service seems fine although on Sunday mysteriously nothing much was making it through. Was this the spaceymail server? Simon

great all my servers down …………………….

I was just moved from a faulty server to legs… and now it´s faulty too?!

All my sites are loading very slow right now (something like a minute to load a simple static html page!) - seems like Dreamhost is going downhill :(

I was down for two hours. something go wrong?

Our web site is down again. We will be moving soon

I’m getting 503 errors again… looks like bad luck with someone in my server being hacked, heavily… or a major misconfig.

i’m getting bored after some weeks with the same problem.

Down again! 24 hours later with Dreamhost Private Server…

I tried using FTP connection but it seems

Sorry for the previous reply, it submitted by accident. Is anyone’s FTP working fpr their sites because I cannot seem to get mine to work, it worked 2 days ago but not now???

Are the issues at hand still ongoing?

i can;t access my site, it is very slowwww…

I can access my FTP, but have been unable to load the log-in to my blog for about a week now. A fews days ago the whole site was unavailable, but came back shortly there after. Now I’m back to being able to access every page but the blog log in cgi.

All of my websites are down, FTP, mysql… all down. Anybody else?

In reply to Chad’s comment, no my site is still running but then again I didn’t have chance to load any mySQL into it, as it is a work in progress. I have been onto support and they say that an ongoing issue seems to have returned and they should have this back up and running shortly.

But on previous blogs they spoke of “no data loss” when they rebooted servers, have you logged into your account and tried accessing your SQL tables like that, depending how system works etc I am new to this company !!!

Hopefully this is of use to you.

My websites are down.

My sites are down for the fourth time in a week, but there haven’t been any mentions of problems from Dreamhost in that time. So much for the status feed.

My hosting is shifted from rollo to legs , few days back and from that day i am having problems, with the server and its approx getting down daily, And now 29th december its again down from last 1+ hours approx. My Suggestion is , legs server should be totally checked in depth. As it have some serious issues with itself.

Indeed… legs has file mgmt probs. Trying to access via SSH has thrown the following “Too many open files on server”. And this problem is the same we faced last friday…

Maybe some unlucky dude got hacked heavily or the server has a major misconfig. Hope it gets fixed anytime

I got moved to legs because they said the server I was on originally was bad, and Legs sucks worse. Down yet again. About ready to move to BlueHost if they do not fix this or move me to a new server.

Hi,

My sites are off since 4 hours ago.

Are they making another change? Fixing something?

Thank you

Hmm,

‘Legs’ has been shot in the legs. All my websites (4) are down. Luckily mail is on another one so I am receiving all complaints about the downtime :S

Fix it asap please.

All of my sites (on Legs) are down, and have been all morning. It would be nice to have an ETA on the status blog.

Yup, I can’t access my http://FTP.
@Jospeph, I second that…

ALL MY SITES ARE DOWN GO FUCK YOURSELF MOTHERFUCKING BITCHES EVERY TWO DAYS LAST TWO MONTHS, FUCKING MOTHERFUCKERS YOU ARE STEALING MY MONEY FUCK OFF AND FUCKING NEW YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i agree with the above comments.

fucking lame amateurs

Where the hell is my website?

All sites down, again!

Meh, Biggs has been on and off too.

kurwa mysql lezy!!!!

seems to me any person working for dreamhost has no clue what they are doing. i have sites that have run smoothly for the past 3 yrs here now i have issues and guess what…”its not their fault but mine”. i cant even load a small gif without even loading my sites. I get server down errors they blame wordpress plugins, which havent even been touched for the past 2 years. i went from 20 dollars per day ad revenue to 5 cents today! to bad switching servers would be an ordeal or else i would get the fuck out of here today.

@nevermind: “I get server down errors they blame wordpress plugins, which havent even been touched for the past 2 years.” -> exactly that is the problem! You _need_ to update your WP-PLugins and other PHP scripts as soon as new versions are available!
