Network Maintenance – Sunday, Feb.7 11 pm – Monday, Feb. 8 2 am
Posted (February 7th, 2010 at 11:13 pm PST) by robertnThere will be a Network Maintenance Window tonight from 11 pm until tomorrow morning at 2 am. We will be adding a Vlan for a new cluster in our downtown data center, increasing the redundancy of our core architecture by restructuring our failover firewall, doing routine maintenance on our distribution switches and further solidifying our LAX datacenter’s new Vlan and cluster.
Thank you for your support. If you experience any anomalous behavior, please contact Technical Support with details.

Panel is verrry slow to respond..
SSH not responding well on some users. Possibly routing issues between some fileservers and other parts of the network during this work.
email, and my websites are all down….
My site is loading and POP3 accounts are all still working, but webmail is down, but all my cgi scripts are timing out.
Oh, there we go. Site went down entirely.
my PS down, mail works though
My site is down, too… normally I don’t mind, but timing is bad – was writing something and was ready to publish it.
Yeah, same here. I work evenings, so this is actually the time of day I do 99% of the work on my site. :/
Down Dow down. And my site’s for insomniacs, so this is a good hour not to be down.
hosted on slimy server…all sites not loading.
thankful most readers are US .
Yet another moronic move by Dreamhost. They can send out useless newsletters, but can they use the same mailing list to alert account owners beforehand of things like a planned network upgrade? Sure doesn’t seem so. And, of course, they compound that with down systems. Man, this is getting old.
yer .. my sites & ftp down too :\
The status page says “Maintenance completed”.
Then where the hell is my site?????
Dont 4get about the bury the #dreamhost #fail contest and you can win crap
All 30 sites down…. no comments.
wth >.< !!!!!!!!!!!!
site down…. no comments
Here’s how much Dreamhost takes customer satisfaction seriously. After last night’s outage, the latest in a series, I opened a ticket after their status page said all was working and my site was still down. This is what I got back. I can’t see where I was insulting. First, they didn’t warn of the outage in advance. Then the site was still down when they declared “Mission accomplished.” And that’s what they term a successful upgrade?
Hello Bill,
1) WHY CAN’T YOU GIVE US A HEADS UP BEFORE? You manage to send stupid
newsletters so you have a mass mail system. Why not give people some
advance warning?
You may unsubscribe from the newsletters from here:

Please see http://dreamhoststatus.com for service-related announcements.
You may subscribe to RSS feed or follow @dhstatus on Twitter if you wish
to receive emails.
2) Looks like you blew the network upgrade.
We appreciate your assessment of our situation. The network upgrade was
successful. The downtime was unfortunate, but did not indicate a failure
in the upgrade’s completion. Sorry for any confusion.
3) I want a credit for the outage!!!!!
We regret any downtime that occurs, and we understand any frustration
that results…however, the support department exists for no other reason
than to assist you, and most of us are pretty fond of this company, warts
and all. Insults are not a good way to avail yourself of a generous
credit for your inconvenience. We have an uptime guarantee…as such I
am crediting you in strict accordance with that policy. Your account has
been credited $1, prorated for the amount of downtime experienced and
your current monthly rate.
Please let me know if you need anything else.
Thanks!
Jeff H
I love the language they used here. The sysadmins were probably laughing their asses off writing this.

Webmail is toast.
