Brief Mail problem on Homie

Posted (March 10th, 2010 at 12:53 pm PST) by danwy

Some of you may have noticed a brief outage on our homie mail cluster. This resulted in an “Access denied” bounceback when people tried to email you. This was due to a misconfiguration on our end and was resolved in about 10 minutes. We’re in the process of running configs to catch any stragglers, but this issue should be resolved at this point. If you’re still receiving “Access Denied” bouncebacks, please let us know and we’ll be happy to investigate it further for you.

I’m getting bounces from to and from people:

Google tried to deliver your message, but it was rejected by the recipient domain. We recommend contacting the other email provider for further information about the cause of this error. The error that the other server returned was: 535 SMTP AUTH failed with the remote server. (state 8).

My senders are still experiencing bounce back errors.
As of 2:32 PM Pacific time

The emails to Dreamhost Support are also bouncing:

This is the Postfix program at host looneymail-mx1.g.dreamhost.com.

I’m also still getting bounces on emails being sent to my dreamhost hosted email.

Same problem here.

How am I supposed to know what messages destined for me were bounced?

DH should send each affected user a list of senders that were bounced so that we can send apology messages to the senders. (Yes, I have made such a request to support.)

All my hosted websites just went down! Very aggravating. Anyone else? (Yes, have reported it to support).

I am still getting bounces today.

emil graciela@labopo.com do not work.
System is denaying the existence of that email address and this is wrong.
This emails address is active and works OK until this morning 7AM Eastern Time.
Please fix it ASAP.
Thanks.

I haven’t received bouncebacks but I can’t send mail since late last night. Just keeps hanging up.

Still seeing intermittent bounces today on multiple domains too. Please fix soon and restore normal email service.
Thanks
paul

We can’t send or receive mails, nor enter in dreamhost web panel since about 1/2 hour…

There appears to be a major DNS issue right now. We have 40+ web sites down as a result. You’d think this would merit an entry on the system status blog, right?

Can’t send or receive emails. Can you hep a bruvva out???
