LAX Network Maintenance — today at 11 pm
Posted (August 31st, 2010 at 11:00 pm PST) by robertnFurther Note: Things took a turn for the worse after 4 am PDT today. Our apologies for the inconvenience!
The new border became unstable due to high cpu load. This caused routing issues that disrupted service. We have reduced the load on the interim border router at LAX, and normalize our network.
============================================================================================================
NOTE: This task was completed successfully. Nynjoy your shiny new bandwidth! RKN @ 3:45 AM 9/1/2010
We will be installing a new border router and transit bandwidth to LAX. All those hosted in LAX will see an improvement in throughput.
There should be no impact on your DreamHost experience while this occurs. However, as with all network maintenance, there is potential for outages. Plan accordingly.

Second what Brian says — timezone is REALLY needed in these announcements…

Although it’s currently PDT….
I just lost access to my server in the middle of a tricky edit session. Is it possible you guys have started half an hour early?
¿Dreamhost Control Panel down?
Having problems with Control Panel myself. Also site went offline for a few minutes, got an alert from Pingdom.
Same here, no access to our database at Dreamhost and our website !
Control panel and all hosted sites are not responding, just went down no more than 15 mins ago.
all dreamhost access gone right now…. something happen in LA last night?
dreamhost is down!!!! WTF!!!!!!!
E-mails down. cannot access panel.dreamhost.com
my webs are down!!! when will be the server online?
my ftp name server in dreamhost is Probe
thanks
EVERYTHING (DREAMHOST.COM, PANEL, WEB, EMAIL, FTP, ETC) IS DOWN.
potential for outage has been achieved..
Our server is unreachable, I think its a dreamhost outage. Anyone else affected? 8:30am Eastern
Control Panel is on again. Website and other services offline… marvelous
Now , The server has a downtime
Things are not down. From what I can tell, the problem is on the routes, since it’s resulting in a very high packet loss and therefor, timeouts on services.
Can not ftp my server.
noumea is definitly down, both the websites and FTP are down, any news on how soon they’ll be up?
yes, everything is down on our site too.
My site is down. Web services offline?
my websites are all down!
what happened?!
All dreamhost sites are down now if you try to reach from europe….
Can’t even file a support ticket… they are really having problems.
All my websites are down
dear dreamhost, fix your shit.
Server is down…. I like the addition of how we should plan accordingly – to plan we need to know about them in advance, not on the day!
anyone know if Dreamhost makes backups of the db and files of the servers?
So if posting in the comments here is not how we should tell you about an outage, and the web panel is down, how are we supposed to tell you about an outage? Maybe you could add something to dreamhoststatus for just such a case, hint hint hint.
I think we have all established that Dreamhost is down for the time being, hopefully this is resolved as soon as possiable, it doesnt effect me too much over here, only if i had of read this before i would have downloaded everything and worked locally… Yes i forgot, and now im in the dog house
Anyway im sure they are aware of the service being down and fixing the issue now, there Live Web Help is conveniently off too( I can access the panel )
Email/Web offline for me as well.
I have over 100 sites on DH, and all, I mean ALL, are down.
what the fu?
15:34pm in Israel, and all my Dreamhost sites are down.
You must take into consideration non-USA sites with maintenance hours.
There Twitter doesnt look to be kept up to date.
Cannot access control panel…all sites and email are down. What’s going on?
Sites, mail, http://ftp…everything down, literally while i was updating one of the sites..and of course the cherry on top was the web panel is down too.
and yeh…fix your shit.
I have an online and physical shop in spain and i am losing money, please say when will reestablish the connection, thanks
I have over 100 sites on DH, and all are down. I can’t wait to get to work for this freaking day.
7:40 cst – my site is down.
Dreamhost is a very nice server, but they should to notice few days before when they make modifications in the server.
Everything I have at dreamhost is down. No email, no websites, no panel. It’s all just gone.
happens now????
ok NONE of my sites are accessible.
My website hosted on paris.dreamhost is down. What gives?
Yeah, very frustrating – same here. I emailed them using an existing trouble case email header – we’ll see if it gets through.
Would be nice if they would update dreamhoststatus – it’s been at least 1/2 down now.
Maybe someone tripped over a main power cord or something?
To be fair its been awhile since Dreamhost has made one of these amazing screw-ups. I remember at the start of the year they used to happen on a weekly basis!
I too am having massive issues this evening.
Are domains hosted on redwings impaced by this change?
If so when do you think access stability will be restored?
Well, the Mayan calendar did say that on this very day, Dreamhost would go down. Down..down…down
Oh my GOD! My floor is cracking! Lava!
Hanoi server is down
Things are partially working. Maybe anothe DDOS attack?
@Fasckira lol i deal with this on a weekly basis now, if the server is not down there is a mis config in the httpd, but i guess you get what you pay for…..
I hope this doesn’t affect my site when Dreamhost comes back online. Webmail is down as well, just as I was about to press send to 50 people. – Melbourne time, 10:47pm 09/01/10
It is frustrating, but it doesn’t alleviate or make the situation better when there hasn’t been any updates or as clear a communication from the Dreamhost team within the last hour…it’s still the middle of the week! 2 business sites are on hold now. I’m a patient person but I wish I had more of an idea of what to tell my clients.
I earn about 1000-1500 usd every day, so i am losing money, solve quickly this problem, please!
Wow, something must have blew up big time. My PS is down, and I can’t access the web panel. Groovy!
EVERYTHING (DREAMHOST.COM, PANEL, WEB, EMAIL, FTP, ETC) IS DOWN. [2]
dreamhost is down!!!! WTF!!!!!!! [2]
Ah yes, just like the old days. My traceroute gets as far as:
10 68 ms 67 ms 68 ms newdream-8.border11.lax.pnap.net [216.52.220.146]
Looks like something went wrong with the new LAX routing.
How frustrating.
Virtual private servers are down. Things sometimes go on, then again off. Weird problem…
MASSIVE outage. No communication from DH. Just horrible.
Everything’s down.
Anyone, any idea?
2.30pm CET
now dreamhost is offline too… i hope they solve soon
but the next time, please, send an email when you have to make modifications in the server
dreamhost.com
NOT enjoying the “shiny new bandwidth”……
Me too ![]()
Got some angry people calling me
@alex, if you make that much a day then why are you hosting on Dreamhost? Honestly? why dont you upgrade to a real set of servers with WiredTree or Rackspace, or even (MT)???
I’m surprised this bulletin board is still up and running, where is this hosted?
Web panel OnLine now
YAY, an Update
Update: It seems that this didn’t go as smoothly as originally thought, and the outage is being investigated and worked on. We are very sorry for any inconvenience, and should have everything back up and running shortly.
They have an update above, “Update: It seems that this didn’t go as smoothly as originally thought, and the outage is being investigated and worked on. We are very sorry for any inconvenience, and should have everything back up and running shortly.”
Has anyone got a response from the DH support team? is anyone looking into this or has everyone gone home…
So, Elmer Fudd went to his refrigerator to get some cold pizza, and when he opened it he saw a wabbit and said,
“Mr. Wabbit, what are you wooing in my wefwigewator?”
And the wabbit said,
“I’m westing. Isn’t this a Westinghouse?”
This seems to happen more often than not when you do maintenance. Heads need to roll and you need to bring on new people who have a masterful command of networking.
Looks like the Dreamhost Web Panel is down!!! Along with my PS!!
Ok, at least they are aware. Guys, thanks for the update
I’m disappointed.
I can’t believe there isn’t a status update on this. I got through to a person in Chat, she said they were having problems, but she couldn’t tell me anything other than they were having problems. Duh!
She also mentioned that the “day” crew hasn’t come in yet, so it sounded like they were waiting until someone else came in to fix the problem.
No, still dead. Those who have been around dreamhost long enough probably have backup plans.
They need to take the new LAX “border” router down so redundant routes can take effect. They DO have redundant routes, RIGHT? Might this not be a “border” router and instead be a problem with a core router?
@Kyle, define “shortly”….
@Joe – the fact that they don’t have capable people on duty around the clock tells me all I need to know about Dreamhost. If the “day crew” isn’t in yet and nobody seems to be able to fix it, DH has a management problem that isn’t going to be fixed by the day crew coming in. They’ve designed their business in a fashion that doesn’t look out for their customers’ best interests.
Private server is down. Can’t access from Europe, not sure about accessing from the US yet. Awesome!
Experiencing all kinds of problems on all sites and with the dreamhost panel. Things are VERY slow and may or maynot come up. Is there a fix coming soon? I hope?
My site is down!!!!!!
With things coming back up briefly and occasionally partially loading, this strikes me as a possible DDOS attack, so let’s give them the benefit of the doubt until we hear otherwise.
I told you not to post photos of Apple new Mohomind iPod Touch models being introduced on your DH hosted page. (intentional mispelling)
no update in 3 hours?
Joined Dreamhost like a month ago, and this is the second major outage. BAD FIRST IMPRESSION. 9am EST and my site is still down.
Everything looks completely down. I suspect DNS caching, but it’s clumsy, whatever it is. I would kind of like to double-check my e-mail before my 10 am (EDT) appointment.
@Dreamhost Incapable Your name says it all for me..
It would be nice if they’d put a time zone on for when they made that *update*. But… things seem to be working again now? At least, I can load my three domains…
I was just listening to the police scanner, and apparently, there’s been another mugging in the LA area. An entire data center was stolen. This is why I won’t live in LA: there’s just too much crime, and the criminals are just too bold. On the plus side they’ll probably take the servers home and plug them in, so we’ll at least have access through Comcast.
Hmmm. Webmail is running. Tested and receiving mail there. Routing problem….
greenlantern server is intermittent. Sometimes timed out. Please check
At least, I can load my three domains…
Probably cached. Still down.
All my websites are offline. Pleas fix the problem very soon.
Everything still down
Amazing how people get so worked up by an hour or two of downtime on shared hosting. It costs next to nothing and went it works (the vast majority of the time) it’s great! Go have a cup of tea or play outside or something.
Boohoo! It’s a routing problem. Trace routing goes nowhere
all my sites are intermittent. on and off.
…Or not. Hmph. My root domains seem to be working themselves, but subdomains are most emphatically NOT!
thanks for costing me money dreamhost, those google ad clicks are leading to a problem loading page
This is only the 2nd or 3rd outage in the 6 or 7 years I’ve been with DH…No worries here, things will be fixed.
All of my hosted sites are down and have been for some time, this might be my last month as a customer as I cannot afford to have this type of failure.
Dreamhost, please provide an update.
GMT time: 14:10
still ecrything down…no mail, no websites….
Eric – I cleared my cache, and the root domains loaded, but the subdomains won’t. I don’t know WHAT *that’s* about.
Trialia, there’s no connectivity to their entire LAX network, so whatever is being loaded is not from there…
Dreamhost must have let some MediaTemple employees babysit their datacenters overnight or something. I’m getting intermittent access to the panel and my sites are up for the most part, looks like the routing is all over the place though.
Any updates?
@ Jacob Regardless of it being cheap and shared, as the comments above show, people still depend on the reliability of a service that is being paid for. I recently had my site featured at EA a day or two ago but now have the worry that potential new visitors are being turned away due to the incompetence of the hosting company.
I agree that its not the end of the world but its still disappointing. I was planning on switching to the private virtual server hosting they offer BUT as Ive read above they’re affected as well – if I was them I would be incredibly cheesed off!
huhuhu….ftp seems to be working but all site not working when accessing admin.
Jacob – I just got back from a major convention, have a disability that includes chronic fatigue as a symptom/side-effect, and I can’t go anywhere today. I was hoping I could get something done on my sites since I can use my mind but not really my body. I was in the middle of that when this happened. Why it always seems to be when I’m actually working on a site and not while I’m out (according to SiteUptime, anyway), I do not know! Maybe I’m a jinx.
@Jacob – Dreamhost claims to provide the services they advertise on dreamhost.com. When they fail to do so, it’s irrelevant if it’s shared hosting. Others with non-shared accounts are complaining too. Again, making your defense irrelevant.
Well I’m near LAX just tell me where to go to turn the switch back on
Same here, everything down. Important news sites and others affected. Hope they get it sorted asap as it’s the middle of the day here (Ireland).
Why is it that this status update site runs fine but my website is down?
Actually it appears all of Dreamhost is down or failing right now. I am NOT on LAX and my site is down. I tried to contact support and got this message:
We are experiencing a network issue at the moment, and our network engineers are already on the job and working on the problem. This may cause some slowness or site downtime until it is complete, but we are working on this issue with the highest priority to get your sites working again. We will keep the status site updated when we have more info:
You can keep updated at dreamhoststatus.com! (posted 2 mins 1 sec ago)
Eric – do they put subdomain routing on different servers from root domain routing, in that case? (Hardware’s not my speciality, unfortunately.) My root domains are all hosted on islanders, though what relevance that actually has in this situation, I’m not sure.
@ Jacob: Well said. Sure are a lot of crybabies on these forums. People always want to find something to complain about.
This is SHARED HOSTING and you’re paying a fraction of the cost of the PS Hosting and a fraction of a fraction of dedicated hosting. If you want guaranteed 99.99% up-time then GO PAY FOR IT! Otherwise quit all the crybaby antics and let them do their work!
Everything still down.
Pretoria is down…
lah lah lah lah laaaaame
All down, really frustrating especialy when its free day from work…
hope it wasn’t me, just las night uploaded a new “killer” form validation script… hehehe
Think I’m making enough money out of this to get a better hosting service, but still like dreamhost service.
9.12 UTC -5 and no change, only seing the panel.
Just a suggestion…the R.I.P. acronym on the live chat not a great customer service approach when your client is stressed out over an outage…funny for you…not so funny for us. No offense, just saying
Bubba, if they hosted this status in their own location we wouldn’t have a place to vent!
no email and no website for my company at the moment
I’m on a Private Server and I’m down as well.
nothing is working including dreamhost.com. this is out of control and why would they do this in middle of the week!
Time is money… lets hope this gets resolved soon… I am losing income for every minute my site is down!!!
World War II Database is down too. Hope servers will be back up soon…
Yeah…I’m gonna be on the lookout for a new host…ridiculous downtime.
My sites just came back up….
Trialia, I have no subdomains, so I don’t know. But my various domains resolve to different IP’s (208.97.175.13, 208.113.171.74, 208.113.162.62) but all seem to be disconnected at the moment.
Control panel and all hosted sites are not responding, everything still down!
its 16:15 (UTC+02:00) Athens, Bucharest, Istanbul its still down… pls add timezones and information mails dear dreamhost authorities…
What a bunch of grumpy people. Shit happens. They are trying to fix things. We should all be patient. For no more than I pay for my private server and my dreamhost account, I am not going to complain about this. It is not like it was done intentionally.
@Jacob – it’s not just shared hosting; I’m on a Private Server and everything is intermittently on and off. Hopefully, it will be working again soon.
What Diesel said. I’ve been with Dreamhost for over a decade. There is no better host, when you consider EVERYTHING.
FWIW, my PS is alive and kicking. My shared stuff does seem to be affected, though.
lima server down, please resolve asap!
I was first to report this and what ticked me off the most is that after the person who I managed to get a hold of in Help chat basically told me it was a problem in my end cause he was abel to open the site jsut fine even tough I told him ti was nto only me but a lot fo my users, he shut the chat window(without waiting for my response) and after giving me a link to their wiki after I had told him it took me a long time to open the chat and dreamhosts forums and website were inaccessible to me………
I had to refresh their website like 50 times and spent like 20 minutes at it until finally I managed to send them tracerts showing the problem, something that would have gone more smoothly and would not have pissed me off if the person in the chat would have been more professional and paid attention to what I was telling him!
They must be rebooting newdream-8.border11.lax.pnap.net [216.52.220.146] because we can’t get there any more, only to border11.po2-20g-bbnet1.lax.pnap.net [216.52.255.104]
If I had just slept in today I would have missed all of this.
Everything finally seems back up for me, how is everyone else doing?
sites down
webmail down
dreamhost web panel down-no way to submit to dh
sigh
@Diesel Still, PS is charged on a per-minute basis (even if it is hardly anything), and is being charged while it is not accessible. Although, if it was set to 4gb, it would be quite a costly downtime.
All my sites (100+) down for about 1 hour, smtp, imap, ssh not working (everything times out). Webmail was functional up until 10 minutes ago, now I see the login page but it doesn’t authenticate users.
Control panel slow and flaky (I couldn’t finish my support ticket).
I have PS hosting and my sites are down as well. This is not isolated to Shared Hosting.
This is a pipe/network issue, not a server issue.
Our sites still down also
Nightmare… 1st day of September… 901 terror ???
All functions down!
Stewart is down…
Why aren’t we seeing an update from the Dreamhost team here? Been hours since their last update. All work on the web comes to a stop. Not good.
However, been a customer for years and this is the first time I’ve seen this.
newdream-8.border11.lax.pnap.net [216.52.220.146] is back, but still no connection beyond that, I guess that rebooting didn’t work…
@Trialia You are just a baby for throwing your shit @Jacob because he made a perfectly valid normal comment (how could he guess you have such condition). I agree with him, if this is critical to anyone you could pay a bit more than you pay here.
still down…. UNDO IT!!!
@Dan I guess I’m just lucky, coz both my PS and Shared are affected
Wait no mail is still off and on.
Eric – I can’t access the second IP you gave, either. Some of my ~35 subdomains are loading, others are not, so it *must* be a network issue rather than hosting, as Dan said…
Why aren’t we seeing an update from the Dreamhost team here? Been hours since their last update. All work on the web comes to a stop. Not good.
However, been a customer for years and this is the first time I’ve seen this.
Time to add a layer of outgoing communications when ALL access is down Dreamhost?
My sites not up yet.
Gonna have to start shopping around, this is ridiculous, happens way too often…
Still down… please fix the problem… all my sites is down (30+)
All back up. Thank you Dreamhost!
Whoops! Sites are back up now, blog and web.
My site is up now, …..
I work in IT, doing network/server support. I know it is next to impossible to provide 100% uptime. Deal with the fact we are currently in the “less than 1% downtime” window, and take a break and relax until everything is back up.
It’s back!!
Sweden, 03:23 pm GMT
Now it started again, DB, FTP and website !
Hope this will continue…
Looks like we’re back up?
Agustin – You know what you should do? Grow the hell up.
I was being polite, actually, trying to explain why I could not go out and do something else. I’m not really angry at Dreamhost, as most of the time they are a very good host. I’m just a little frustrated by the coincidence that the downtime issues always seem to happen to me while I’m working on something.
Back up all of a sudden and blazing fast
Confirmed, still have problems.
Man i feel sorry for them, they are reading all your rubbish, look
Update(09/01/2010 04:30 PST): It seems that this didn’t go as smoothly as originally thought, and the outage is being investigated and worked on. We are very sorry for any inconvenience, and should have everything back up and running shortly.
They added the time so people didnt have to spend the extra minute to work out the PDT over the PST
lol
Seems i’ve regained my connectivity, thanks dreamhost!
My sites are back-up. Hang tight, they are probably working as fast as they can.
My sites are back-up. Hang tight, they are probably working as fast as they can..
Well, still down, hopefully this is one of their couple of hours outages, not one of their 1+days outages.
All my sites down, clients just started calling me….
Please fix this asap!
Thanks,
What Heather said
Thank you DH, for dealing with this so quickly, though a little more outward communication *would* be appreciated when these things happen.
I am starting to get concerned as well. I have been a dreamhost customer for many years and have been pretty happy with the service.
It seems recently this updates go bad more often then they go good. What happened to emailing people in advance so they could prepare for possible problems? I was caught off guard by angry phone calls this morning.
I am again concerned I must move to someplace with less doubt.
All my websites and panel are down. FML
All my sites are down, dream host just times out. Nothing. Just joined yesterday, not a good start at all.
My website is back up! Great news.
We back!!!
all my sites are working now.
what’s wrong with dh. Error establishing a database connection???
8:42am EST, and all is down. Web Panel, Email, Web.
As usual, in the middle of a time crunch, and I look silly to 5 clients who are waiting for work from me.
they have a 100% uptime guarantee. they broke their guarantee. they should give me my money back. so disappointing. i thought i found my new hosting co.
All my sites are back!!!!!! Thanks DH
I love you dreamhost.
I have a PS and it is still down
At the moment servers are up again…
Everything is working well!
As always, Dreamhost has a glitch, some sites (if not all) go down. They fix it. They tell us about it.
I for one appreciate our webhosting overlords and look forward to our next outtage.
Why? Because I get to come onto the blog, write a little post in support of dreamhost and tell them THANK YOU for being on top of the glitches that come up in the day to day webhosting experience. I appreciate the fact that they offer me a budget price for MEGA amounts of service, and be damned the people that go and scream about getting NEW HOSTING AND OPENLY VACANT THREATS AND WAAAAAH!
If you want a tighter ship, you will end up paying for it in the end.
Thanks Dreamhost, and keep up the great work, even through the rough patches.

Olá, aqui no brasil, já quase que a maioria dos meus sites e de meus clientes estão no ar
we seem to be back up here in the uk too
Now it’s ok
All services seem to be coming up again
My sites are back up! Thank you dreamhost for the effort. I’m still devoted. Cheers!
People shouldn’t complain about DH uptime issues ![]()
Of course, routing is another thing.
PST not so useful for people not in the USA.
-800 GMT/UTC much more useful.
Mail/web access seems to be back again.
@Tiralia
And why would you take such a generic comment as to “go out” so personally as to give such a personal explanation?
I also love dreamhost and the great service they give for so little money.
Some things are back up now!
Hello. we are having problems in our site ngvgroup.com and our e-mails have problems too
Guys, thank you for your GREAT SUPPORT, my websites are became active within 20 mins.
Happy Dreamhoster
Best.
All working now !
I’m completely down. All sites.
Emiliano, your site is working fine here in Australia.
All up again… phew!
My stuff is back up and running. Keeping fingers crossed.
I’ve been with Dreamhost for several years now and this is the first serious network failure that I’ve experienced, maybe I slept through the others network failures or have been luckily enough not to be affected by them, either way Dreamhost seems very solid to me.
While I’m here, I have to say that I find all of the “OMG A FEW HOURS DOWNTIME WILL RUIN MY BUSINESS AND MY LIFE” replies that people are posting here extremely entertaining. If you’re dumb enough to be relying on shared server stability for your livelihood then you deserve to be burnt by network failures. If you were running a *serious* business you would be using a private server provided by a different server provider.
Anyway, the Dreamhost pros outweigh the cons IMO, I’m quite happy to sit back for a few hours while the guys resolve the problem.
websites and mail server runnin now….gmt time 14:50
thanks for the job guys!
i keep my fingers crossed but thank you a lot!
Great work in fixing this!
My big question is the uptime guarantee (http://www.dreamhost.com/hosting-100-percent-uptime-guarantee.html). According to that page the guarantee only applies if you report the issue to support and then only from the time you report it. What if we couldn’t report it because the panel was down?
I think we should all get at least one day of free hosting because of these circumstances.
One day of free hosting? I don’t need 35 cents.
The uptime of my DSL is way better than DH. I should probably just fire up a server and bring everything back in-house.
My sites are working fine now. Thank you for your hard work. I was thankful to find out it was a DH problem and not that I had broken something again.
My email is still down. When I send a test email to myself, it is sent but does not show up in squirrel mail nor in my outlook inbox.
I wonder how many fewer support requests Dreamhost would have (and how much faster our sites would be) if half the people who threatened to leave actually did it.
Site was down – back up now
Thank you, Dreamhost!
As a network engineer for large, international networks, I just want to say – I prefer you guys working your butts off to get this resolved instead of spending all your time updating us! Routing issues in a large network are not as easy to resolve as some of you may think!! Let the network engineers do their work instead of having to interrupt their thoughts every few minutes to give updates!
My webserver test script reported intermittent fails on my DH sites from 5:45 until 7:00am PDT when all reported fine. My personal tests showed slow loading and occasional fails.
Over the past year or two DH has been my cheapest hosting account and my most reliable. Today they proved they struggle on occasion like the rest, and that they get things back up.
I DO wish the dreamhoststatus.com page was kept current, but I prefer that they fix the system. Too bad there’s not someone non-techie there who could post a quick notice here. (BTW, my most expensive hosting account has a status account, too, and they’re much worse about posting to it. And THEY charge you $10 to submit a trouble ticket, then refund it if THEY decide you shouldn’t have to pay considering the problem. (Or they’ll manage the account for $99 a month, with no $10 trouble tickets.)
We need uptime, yes, but let’s keep it in perspective. DH is a bargain.
Thanks for the hard work. I don’t get people, if you’re not happy with their service leave and stop complaining.
Dreamhost rocks!
One word, Dreamhost engineers: Multihoming.
Relying exclusively on Comcast to transport your data is a disaster waiting to happen. This is why god invented BGP.
Now (18:23/UTC+01, 2010/09/01) it seems to be working fine, however transfer speeds could be a bit better after upgrade, right?
Seems to be acting up again… 12:50PM EDT
Hello, still down!
14:11 GMT -3
Over the past 2 days, has only worked about 1 time in 20.
This is not good.
really, folks, I started checking in here at like 9.15, and by 9.30 all my sites were up and running. Jeez, the kind of whining going on around here at ten after was just juvenile. Out here in the real world, we know real things happen, and generally, they get fixed real quick.
Chronic fatigue syndrome is DH fault??? Whiner!
Why didn’t you just come in here and post,
I am a disembodied consciousness who only gets to achieve physicality between 8.30 & 9.30 today, and now, because of DH I will never get to experience your “Earth Kiss” !!!
Jeez. As my commandant once said, “You think that’s bad??? What would you do if they were SHOOTING AT YOU???”
Relax, Francis, it will be okay.
*sigh*
@Kenray
I’m glad all of your sites are up and running fine. I really am. Not all of us are so lucky.
And while the classic “it could be worse…” argument may have some truth to it, as it could certainly always be worse, that does not fix servers, quiet clients, or waive blame.
this is the first real downtime ive experienced from dreamhost in eight years of using them now. i’m not *too* angry, but i do hope they comp us for our downtime.. hint, hint, dreamhost!
…
Hey,
My website is down and I need it fixed asap.
rubinphotography.com
For the second time today and at least the fourth time in the last 2 weeks, EVERYTHING Dreamhost related is not accessible by me. Not good.
People hosted at dreamhost have some really weird websites.
Seems to work now, thx dreamhost team. You are a good balance between cheap and features, a few hours now and then is forgiveable.
Unfortunately I’m still unable to access any of my sites, email, or dreamhost.com.
Alex’s site works fine.
It’s a shame that you don’t have phone support, leaving people to use your site to get support, which then proves useless when THAT is also down.
When trying to send an email which seems to have pseudo-bounced back to me, with a link to the dreamhoststatus.com page, it’s annoying because I shouldn’t have to hunt so much to get answers, only to find them by mistake. The kind of service updates should be emails to all of your customers automatically.
Though I’ve experienced worse from DH, it is yet another example of poor customer service which seems to be a running trend.
all down AGAIN
Site is not working and the control panel is working really bad. I need my website on-line!!
Server is down and down hard. ps10379
This is pretty bad. Web Panel is still up but can’t access server at all via shell, FTP or web.
Got ahold of support via chat. Hardware went down, they’re trying to power cycle it back up. I’m guessing everyone on that vhost machine is offline.

You REALLY need to make sure you include timezones when posting times. Not helpful if you don’t.
