Please stay tuned for updates.

Update: 16:55 April 7th: First off we would like to apologize for the recent database errors we have been experiencing that cause your panel access to go down. We are getting all our heads together to try to resolve these central database issues once and for all. We have stabilized the central database machines now and we are working on finding the source of these issues. All services are up and running currently but we are watching the database closely. Once again we are really sorry about the problems this has caused you and we aim to have this repeat issue completely resolved as soon as possible.

Looks like the central database servers are at it again. The control panel (https://panel.dreamhost.com/) as well as the WebMail interfaces (SquirrelMail and RoundCube) are currently down (temporarily). Our database guru is investigating the situation now and hopes to get it back up again as quickly as possible. We’ll post updates as soon as more information is available. We apologize for any inconvenience this may be causing.

NOTE: This will not effect your web servers, private servers or non-webmail e-mail accounts.

ADDENDUM: one side effect of the central database issues we have been having was the temporary loss of a large portion of our cloaking data table. Our admin team is in the process of restoring that information right now and expects to be done in the next couple of hours (2 PM PST was the original target but we just had another outage so we’re not 100% sure on when this will be completed). The good news is that you are not required to wait - if you prefer you may add the service back yourself via the panel here:

https://panel.dreamhost.com/index.cgi?tree=domain.manage&

and it should come back up once the DNS updates.

The DreamHost “we hate databases as much as you do” team!

UPDATE 1:10pm PST: The central database is back up again (as well as the control panel and WebMail interfaces. The admins are reviewing what they’ve found but don’t have a detailed update at this time.

Our central database that controls panel has crashed again and is recovering right now. This is a very large database so it can take some time, but we are estimating that it should complete in an hour or less. We will update this post as things progress. Hopefully our experience from yesterdays outage will help us get this back up more quickly this time. We apologize for the inconvenience!

NOTE: This also effects access to our WebMail interfaces (SquirrelMail and RoundCube) and DreamHost Apps sites.

UPDATE: 11:28am PST It’s back up again! We’re keeping a close eye on the database server for a while though, just in case.

UPDATE: 12:16pm PST Looks like it’s down again. The admins are investigating. Stay tuned for more updates.

UPDATE: 12:40pm PST It’s UP again.

UPDATE: 12:57pm PST It’s down again. Admins are still investigating the cause of these outages.

UPDATE: 1:15pm PST It’s UP again.

UPDATE: 1:30pm PST Basically what’s happening is we’re 99% sure the memory (RAM) issue has been resolved. However the database process keeps dying without any useful information as to why. Fortunately however it seems to recover automatically in about 10 minutes or so without any data corruption (which is awesome). Our top database guru is on the case monitoring it very closely to try to figure it out and get it stable again. Again, we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this is causing. We’re working as quickly as possible to get this problem resolved once and for all.
